Decorative Finishes
(Limewash, Roman Clay, Plaster)
Decorative finishes are a fantastic way of creating unique spaces in your home that differ from the monotony of painted walls. These finishes, unlike traditional paints, are used to create a wide range of textures that turn the areas into beautiful, nuanced-looking surfaces. They are often utilized in spaces where a more luxurious feel is desired, though these finishes can go anywhere in your home, even encompassing the entire house if so desired. The most common areas of use are: Fireplace walls, kitchen and living room accents, bathrooms, home offices, home spas, and shower walls.
Break The Status Quo
We typically use three different products to achieve our distinct textured finishes: Limewash, Roman Clay, and Plaster. Though we can give a more in-depth understanding of the differences between the three options during our in-person discussion, we can lay out some general differences here. Roman Clay and Venetian Plaster are thicker, more clay-like coatings that are applied with a spatula in twisting patterns to achieve a nuanced, marble-like finish. Limewash is a much thinner coating that is applied with a brush, and so has a more subtle, suede-like finish as compared to plaster. The feathered pattern that it leaves tends to accentuate and richen with age. This product, unlike plaster, can be used on interior and exterior applications.
This style of finish products, perhaps more so than standard paint, necessitates a deft, artistic touch. At Park City Paint Crew, we employ painters and managers trained and experienced in applying these finishes in a specific, aesthetically pleasing way. If you’re interested in adding some unique focal points to your interior or exterior spaces, these decorative finishes are a great way to do it.
